Purchasing

For a product that stands out

The Purchasing Department's mission is to develop a definitive business strategy for the unique positioning of the Department Stores Business Line: ensuring a vast range of inclusive products and globally recognised luxury brands, creating strong concepts that stand out, by negotiating exclusive rights, all while taking into account changes in customer behaviour through an "omni-channel" approach (stores and e-commerce).

The buyer and the administrator

There are two activities that represent the Purchasing function within the Department Stores Business Line. The Buyer establishes a product offering for his or her sector of activity and negotiates with brands and suppliers. He or she plays a key role in achieving the target margin. Inquisitive and with an international culture, he or she should speak several languages. In close collaboration with the Buyer, the Administrator, meanwhile, benchmarks and prepares negotiations, to maximise the margin. He or she notifies the teams on stock rotation, determines the open to buy (updating purchasing credit) and offers discounts on products. The qualities required in a Purchasing Administrator include discipline, transparency, foresight and an ability to anticipate in order to identify opportunities for business development.

Testimonial - National brand and private brand buyers

"Our mission: to find the right brands at the right time and at the right price! We supply the stores, and play the role of intermediary with suppliers. It's a job that requires a lot of discipline. My daily challenge is to get the best prices I can, to meet the expectations and needs of the stores. Every day is different!"

Testimonial - Purchasing Administrator

"I work in tandem with a Buyer. I analyse the collection reports so that the Buyer knows the tops and flops of the brand. The goal: always have the right product available at the right time! An added bonus: I see the collections six months in advance! A real privilege for a fashion lover like me."
